Capycourt Privacy Policy

Last updated: 30 October 2026

In short: Capycourt keeps your club's data on the club's own device. We (the people who make the app) do not receive it, cannot see it, and run no analytics, advertising or tracking. The only thing that leaves the device is an optional, encrypted backup that the club organiser chooses to send to their own Google Drive.

1. Who we are

Capycourt is a free app for running social racket-sport club nights, made by Curtis Lam ("we", "us"). You can contact us at capydevbara@gmail.com.

2. Who is responsible for member data

The club organiser (the person who sets up a club in the app) decides what member details are entered and why. That makes the organiser, or the club they run, responsible for the member data in the app. Because the data stays on the organiser's device and in the organiser's own Google Drive, we do not receive or have access to it.

If you are a club member and want to see, correct or delete your details, ask your club organiser.

3. What the app stores on the club device

All of this is stored in the app's private storage on the device and encrypted. The encryption key is kept in the Android Keystore.

4. What leaves the device

Google Drive backup (optional)

The organiser can connect a Google account so Capycourt backs up automatically after each session. If they do:

The backup is stored in the organiser's own Google account and is handled under Google's terms and privacy policy. We do not receive a copy.

Google API Services User Data Policy. Capycourt's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Exports (optional)

The organiser can export game history, a members list, a session log or a backup file and send it anywhere using the phone's share menu. CSV and JSON exports are not encrypted. What happens to an export after it is shared is up to the organiser.

Nothing else

The app contains no analytics, advertising, crash reporting or tracking, and makes no network connections other than to Google Drive for the optional backup.

5. App permissions

6. How long data is kept

7. Children and under-18s

Capycourt is a tool for organisers, not a service aimed at children. Clubs may include members under 18. For these members the app shows a separate privacy notice that a parent or guardian confirms. Under-18 members are otherwise stored in the same way as adults, and the organiser is responsible for getting parent or guardian agreement.

8. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask to see, correct or delete your personal data, and to object to or limit how it is used. For data in a club's Capycourt app, make the request to your club organiser. If you are unhappy with the answer you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

9. Security

Data on the device and in backups is encrypted, and the organiser PIN is stored as a salted hash. No system is completely secure, and the organiser should keep the device locked and the backup passphrase safe.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If a change affects how member data is handled, we will also update the privacy notice shown to members in the app.
